VITEK2 Compact (BIOMERIEUX )

The VITEK 2 Compact is a fully automated microbiological system that performs microbial identification utilizing growth-based technology. The system uses the colorimetric reagent cards that are incubated and interpreted automatically.

Advantages:

  • Database consists of internal and external organisms with multiple isolates of each, culminating in 93% accuracy for the GP card, 94% for the GN card, 87% for BCL and 84% for YST.
  • It can hold up to 60 cards at one time.
  • VITEK 2 GN (Gram-negative) correctly identifies 96.8% of the isolates, including 6.4% low discrimination species.
  • VITEK 2 GP (Gram-positive) identifies 96.5% of the isolates, including 2.2% low discrimination species.
  • VITEK 2 YST (Yeast) identifies 98.9% of the isolates, including 11.7% low discrimination species.

Microbial identification (GN, GP, Yeast) upto species level.
